Synopsis: Calling a separate object
Description
Hi This is related to the problem I reported in the user group. However, I have not been able to get he same error as then, yet, but I got this related problem. If I execute the test case it craches. I have added some additional code that makes it work. Anders
To Reproduce
Execute the test case. THe evaluater dies. Then coimment that line and uncomment the other lines in USER_SETTINGS and then the test case works. Might be that I do something wrong but then I think the compiler should have complained.
Problem Report Interactions
Added test#valid287.
Hi
I made some investigation at this case with the 15.08 version of Eiffel Studio.
I found out that if I write as in the original code, it hangs when the code "Result := s"
get_user: STRING
local
s : separate STRING_32
do
s := setting_data.user
-- Result := create {STRING}.make_from_separate (to_string_8(s))
Result := s
end
But if I change to it does not hangs. But why am I not wanred when writing as in the above case when it should be as below?
get_user: STRING
local
s : separate STRING_32
do
s := setting_data.user
-- Result := create {STRING}.make_from_separate (to_string_8(s))
Result := ""
separate
s as s_s
do
create Result.make_from_separate (s_s.to_string_8)
end
end
