PR# 18522 Blurry text

Problem Report Summary
Submitter: finnianr
Category: EiffelStudio
Priority: High
Date: 2013/02/25
Class: Bug
Severity: Serious
Number: 18522
Release: 7.2
Confidential: No
Status: Analyzed
Responsible:
Environment: Linux Mint 14, gtk2 Ver 2.24.13
Synopsis: Blurry text

Description
7.2 gives the strange impression of all the text being slightly blurred like a CRT monitor out of focus. (source code and feature dialog etc) I can't imagine what's causing it but I am almost sure it is the case. I tried putting the zoom to default and reselecting the font in the preferences. It didn't help.

I switched back to 7.1 and the bluriness went away. Could it be that I imported all my preferences from 7.1 and they are somehow incompatible?

ALSO
7.2 gives the impression of being a bit unstable. I closed a source tab and the IDE crashed. Perhaps it's still in beta. I didn't see any formal release announcement. For the time being I will use 7.1.

7.2 is released. We cannot reproduce the instability you are talking about but anything to help us reproduce the issue would be helpful.

For font anti-aliasing, it is a desktop settings, so you may have registered 7.1 to not perform it, and 7.2 being a new application does it. You should try removing all the 7.2 specific preferences and see if you have this behavior or not. On Unix, everything is stored under ~/.es/7.2 and ~/.es/eiffel_user_files/7.2.
